Caroline Cruz, 58, died Saturday afternoon at her home in Corralitos, CA, after a courageous battle with Cancer.
Caroline was born January 14, 1926, in Walsenburg, CO, the daughter of Cleofas and Rosa (Hernandez) Lopez. She married the love of her life, Epifano (Pete) Cruz.
A native of Colorado, Mrs. Cruz moved to this area in 1971 from Monterey. She worked for eight years at the K-Mart store in Freedom before her illness.
She leaves her husband, Pete; a son, Tony Cruz of Canton Michigan; three daughters, Mary Gwinn of Scottsdale, AZ; Gemma Cruz of Watsonville. CA and Roxanne (Rocky) Cruz of Chico, CA; a brother, Raoul Lopez of San Bernardino, CA,; two sisters, Josie Staley of Anderson, CA; and Alice Lopez of Watsonville, CA; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, Cleofas and Rosa (Hernandez) Lopez and one step brother, Rito Hernandez.
Private services for family and close friends will be held Thursday at 10 AM at Mehl's Colonial Chapel, with the Rev Ron McClean of Los Gatos Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.
