Lex Clifton Adkins, Sr. 71, of Hogan Drive, died Feb. 20, 1993 at Caldwell Memorial
Hospital. Born Mar. 5, 1921 in Caldwell County, he was a son of the late Charles and
Mary Lovins Adkins.

A member of First Baptist Church, Hudson, he was a retired dispatcher for Hammary
Furniture. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mae Smith Adkins; a daughter, Judy Eliza-
beth Adkins; three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Potter Adkins; two sons, Lex C. Adkins, Jr. of
Silvis, Ill., William E. Adkins of Hickory; two brothers, Roland Adkins and Banks Ad-
kins of Rock Hill, S.C.; a sister, Mrs. Howard (Opal) Summerlin of Rock Hill; two step-
sons, Hurl Stevens of Hudson and Joseph E. Stevens of Lenoir; two stepdaughters,
Janie Scott of Lenoir and Jane Stevens of Hudson; twelve grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted by Dr. Howard Hawkins at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Greer-
McElveen Funeral Home chapel. Burial will be in Sardis Cemetery.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 o'clock tonight.
