Obituary for Donald Leroy Hatfield
Donald Leroy Hatfield, 78, of Liberal, passed away on Monday July 30, 2018 at his home in Liberal, KS; one day short of his 79th birthday.

He was born on July 31, 1939 to Howard and Lorene Hatfield at Rural Meade Co, KS.

Don grew up on a farm near Fowler, KS and was a graduate of Fowler High School, class of 1957. In his youth he was active in the Boy Scouts and 4H Clubs. After graduating Don joined the US Army where he served on active duty for four years and then four years with the Army Reserves. Don loved farming and was a farmer for many years. He had many hobbies including hunting, fishing, camping, doing stain glass, woodworking, and history. Don also had a great love for Genealogy and his Hatfield heritage that went all the way back to the Hatfields and McCoys feud of 1881; he was devoted to the history of his Great Great Great Great Grandfather- Emanual Hatfield. Don was active in the community where he served in the Liberal Noon Lions Club; serving as President up to July 1, of 2018 and Liberal ELKS Lodge #1947. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Liberal.

Don is survived by Fiancé- Eula Odneal; Two Daughters- Christy Hergert and husband Conrad of Liberal, KS; Lisa Hatfield Baker of Leavenworth, KS; Son- Rodger Hatfield of Fruita, CO; Brother- "Cokey" Norman Hatfield and wife Jean of Fowler, KS; Sister- Sherry Copple and husband Jerry of Berthoud, Co; Five Grandchildren- Echo Garcia and husband Corban, Candice Kline, Ryan Hergert, Nathan Viegra and Natasha Edwards and husband Dustin; 12 Great Grandchildren- Easton, Peyton, Bohdi, Breighyn, Aidyn, Caidynce, Mercedes, Eros, Atticus, Thanatos, Ciera, and Blix.

He was preceded in death his parents, One Daughter - Tanya K Hatfield, One Sister- Carol Stanley

There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the First Christian Church, with Mike Riney, officiating.
