Nelson C. Asper, age 80, of Biglerville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2018, at Gardens of Gettysburg. He was born Thursday, March 24, 1938 in York Springs, the son of the late Charles A. and Edith A. (Shaffer) Asper.

Nelson was formerly employed by Bear Mountain Orchards for 25 years. He had also worked for Musselman’s Orchards for 20 years. He was a member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262 in Biglerville, Eagles of Gettysburg, Life Member of New Oxford Athletic and Social Club, Life member of Bendersville Fire Company, Adams County Fish and Game, Life member of Arnot Fish and Game and Charter member of Little Bear Hunting Camp in Tioga County. He served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley L. (Griffie) Asper. He is also survived by three daughters, Kathy J. and husband Bob Peters of Biglerville, Amy Asper Dunlap of Gardners, and Dana S. and husband Todd Potorff of Biglerville; one son Kevin E. and wife Kim Asper of Biglerville; nine grandchildren, Melissa Hrach of Pittsburgh, Milton Asper of Biglerville, Matthew Asper of Gettysburg, Stephanie Smith of Gardners, Jennifer Miller of Millersburg, Gina Huggins of Biglerville, Brandon Dunlap of Gardners, Brooke Potorff of Waynesboro, and Michelle Potorff of Biglerville; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister Elizabeth (Betty) Asper of York Springs. He was preceded in death by two great-grandchildren, Rowan and Ayden Huggins.

Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home Inc., 111 S. Main St., Bendersville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 6, at Dugan Funeral Home, Bendersville, with Rev. Rick Robinson officiating. Interment will be in Mt Victory Church Cemetery in Gardners. A viewing will be held on Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m.
