Mary Alice (Boling) Mettes, age 84, passed away Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at her home in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Mary Alice was born in Atlanta, Missouri on August 19, 1933, the daughter of Ernest and Mary (Shears) Downey. She was united in marriage to Stewart Boling on September 16, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1971. She later married Bernard Mettes on November 7, 1980. He also preceded her in death on December 26, 1989.

She is survived by four children; Rodney Boling of Kansas City, Missouri, Marguerite Heine and husband Richard of Jefferson City, Missouri, Ronald Lucas Boling, and wife Melody of Jefferson City, Missouri and Mary “Mitzi” Moore and husband Phil of Jefferson City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; Stephanie Frankenbach, Jamie Boling, Travis Heine, Phillip Heine, Erin Heine, Stewart Boling, Parker Boling, Sheena Harvey, Brogan Dinolfo, Rhiannon Moore, and London Moore; eleven great-grandchildren; step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; one daughter-in-law, Linda Boling; three brothers; five sisters; and a great granddaughter, Wren Harvey.

Mary Alice was a member of the United Methodist Church of Clarence, Missouri, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She graduated from Atlanta High School in 1951, and was known as an outstanding basketball player. She had a good sense of humor and was an excellent cook and seamstress. She enjoyed country music, flowers and visits from Sheryll, being outside, and loved spending time with her family.

Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral in Clarence, Missouri, with a burial to follow at the Maplewood Cemetery in Clarence. Memorial Gathering will be held from 1 to 2 pm on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the funeral home in Clarence. Memorials may be made to Camp Jo-Ota, American Cancer Society or Donor’s Choice.
