FRANKTON — Floyd E. "Sam" Hayden, 79, of Frankton, died May 1, 2007, at his residence.

Sam was born Feb. 7, 1928, in Pendleton, the son of Charles and Minnie (Bradley) Hayden. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 1947.

He married Louise N. Jackley on Oct. 15, 1954. He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Air Force from November 1948 to August 1952. Sam retired from Burnette-Dellinger Insurance Agency of Elwood, where he was employed as a insurance agent for many years.

He was a life member of the Elwood Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5782 and a life member of Elwood Elks Lodge 368 where he was a past exalted ruler in 1972-1973 and served as secretary for 30 years.

Survivors include seven nieces, Saundra and Dwight Hess and Beverly and Charles Wilson, all of Pendleton, Linda and Dick Stacy of Anderson, Janice Dempsey of Franklin, Wilma and Bob Rhoads of Fortville, Sharon Wright of Frankton, and Carolyn and Jack Cohen of New York; two nephews, Gary and Theresa Wright of Frankton, and Stephen and Sharon Wright of Texas; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise (Jackley) Hayden on July 14, 1992; two sisters, Oval Dempsey and Reba Wright; a nephew, Ronald Lee Wright.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home, Frankton, with the Rev. Herb Edwards officiating. Burial will be in K of P-IOOF Cemetery, Frankton, with the Elwood VFW Post 5782 conducting military graveside services.

Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. An Elks memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Friday.

Contributions may be made to Elwood Elks Lodge 368 through the funeral home.
