2nd LT Joseph Ellison entered the Confederate States Army on 03Jul1861 at Ft Mitchell, Al. He was assigned to 15th Ala Reg Inft Co C. Appointed 1st LT on 1Feb1862. His commission expired 22Dec1862 at Port Royal, Va. He re-enlisted in 1862 as a private in Columbus, Ga, assigned to 3rd Geo Calvary Co C. He continued until Johnson surrendered at Raleigh, NC.
