Amherst Township ~~ Ronald C. Newman "Whitey Newman", 74, of Amherst Twp., went home to be with the Lord Sunday, may 3rd, 2009 at Elyria Life Care Center, following a lengthy illness. Ronald was born on July 24, 1934 in Grethel, Ky. He moved to Lorain in 1952 and worked at U.S. Steel for 36 yrs. as a cranesman in the outside shipping dept. until he retired in 1988. Ronald served as a deacon at Fellowship Baptist Church and Victory Baptist Temple. He was an avid racoon hunter, enjoyed buying and restoring 8N Ford tractors and listening to bluegrass music. Ronald loved his family and 13 Grandchildren with 2 Great-Grandchildren on the way. he is survived y his wife of 53 yrs., Elsie P. Newman (nee Cantu); children, Brenda Lea Teeters (Randy) of LaGrange, Ronnie E. Newman (Lori) of Marietta, Ga., Nancy May (Matthew) of Plantation, Fla., Kevin D. Newman (Wendy) of Elyria. Grandchildren: Meagan Shuttleworth (Tom), Hannah M. teeters, Roslyn Nicoloff (Jeran), Caleb and Luke Teeters. Danny, Bradley & Tiffany Newman, Tyler and Dylan May, Kenny & Marie Smith and Claire Newman. Brothers; Carmel B. (Shelby) Newman of Lorain, R.H. (Wanda Jean) Newman of Tenn., and Wendell (Mary Ann) Newman of Grethal, Ky. Sisters; Barbara (Jack) Wilson of Mich., Eloise (William) Chaffin of Lorain, Pasty (Willie) Frasure of Grethal, Ky., Patricia Hudaon and Beulah (Gary) Hamilton both of Lorain; several nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; Oscar and Marybell Newman, bother Budford B. Newman and sister in law Esther Newman. The family will received friends on Wed., May 6th, 2009 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel, 2900 North Ridge Rd., Elyria, Ohio. Viewing Thursday 10-11 A.M. at Wyers Funeral Chapel with funeral services starting at 11 A.M. with Pastor Larry Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.
