Gordon C. Skaggs was born near Knoxville, Tenn., August 13, 1852; moved with his parents to Missouri, when about eight years old. He was married to Mary E. Ponder Sept. 16, 1876, and to this union were born five children—Theodore T., James M., Clyde C., Ethel M., and Herman P. Skaggs, all of whom are married. James died some three years ago.
Gordon C. Skaggs died Sept 1, 1922, in Colorado, one and one-half miles up on Pike's Peak near cog railway; body was found September 5 and was buried on the 6th in Evergreen Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colo. The body was exhumed and brought back here and entered in the family burying ground at Union Church near Brays, Monday, Sept. 18th in the presence of a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Oliver Shelton of the Christian Advent Church of which the deceased was a member.
