Was born to devout Quakers. James and his brother joined the Revolutionary War and were disowned by the family. So they first moved to North Carolina from Philadelphia then to Lincoln, Kentucky and finally Orange, IN.

Last name sometimes spelled Pennick, Pennock, Penix or Pennix

--James Mayfield

His brother was William Walter Pennick though I am dubious of the alleged connection to Isaac W. Pennock. Isaac W. Pennock died in 1832 with his widow Martha dying in 1844. Isaac left a large estate valued at over $100,000 that was disputed over by his seven children. If James was born in 1747 and William in 1736 then there father could not possibly have died in 1832 (supposing he was 20 when William was born he would have been 116 when he died).

Memorial Page is duplicated in Log Creek Cemetery in Pike County, Indiana which is 43-miles southwest of the Log Creek Cemetery in Orange County, Indiana where he and his wife are actually buried.

This cemetery in Orange County is located on Logcreek Road (County Road 250 North). From County Road 240 South travel 0.34-miles (approximately 1,800 feet). The cemetery is on the left and is 110 feet from the roadway on a small hill in the pasture.

GPS coordinates of the tombstone are 38.51843, -86.5027
