Darwin Clemens Brokmeyer of Buchanan Dam, Texas was born September 19, 1939 to Clemens and Elenora (Buxkemper) Brokmeyer at New Ulm, Texas. He died on July 25, 2018 in Buchanan Dam, Texas. He was raised in the Catholic faith and educated at Sts. Peter and Paul Elementary school in Frelsburg, Texas and St. Johns Catholic High School in Fayetteville, Texas.

He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years with a tour in Europe and Turkey.

He was a lifetime member of the Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus since 1957. He served as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator in the 4th degree. He was appointed District Deputy of The Austin Diocese. He married Jeanette Urbanovsky on October 15, 1961, they had three sons, Ronald, Gerald and Darrell.

He was employed with 7-Eleven Grocery, The Houston Post, Cameron Iron Works and Wyman Gordon from where he retired.

He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and tending to his cattle on the ranch in Freestone County.

He loved his grand and great grandkids. He always said they made his life worth living.

Pallbearers are his grandson, Dustin Brokmeyer, nephews, Lambert Jr. Skubal, Greg Brokmeyer, Gary Kovar, Matt Kubala and great nephew, Tyler Pate.

Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters and great grandchildren and spouses of the grandkids also.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jeanette, son Ronald and his wife Denise of Fairfield, Texas, son Darrell and his wife Kristie of Magnolia, Texas; grandchildren, Brandi Brokmeyer, Bailey Kessler, Katie Tran, Lizzie Trevino, Dustin Brokmeyer and Carissa Sherman; great grandchildren, Kaylor Brokmeyer, Kenzley Dawson, Cole Kessler, Trista Kessler, Kase Tran, Destyne Brokmeyer and Olivia Trevino.

He was preceded in death by son, Gerald, parents Clemens and Elenora Brokmeyer and brother-in-law Lambert Skubal, Sr.

Darwin was one of six children and is survived by his brother and four sisters; Florian Skubal of Rockdale, Leslie and Johnnie Mae Brokmeyer of Houston, Madeline and JD Kovar of Fayetteville, Margaret and Jerry Kubala of Fayetteville, and Genevieve and Raymond Broz of Bleiberville.

Visitation will be on Friday, July 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home, Columbus, Texas and at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic church - Frelsburg, 1031 Church Lane, New Ulm, Texas on Saturday from 9:00 am to 10:00 am.

A parish rosary and prayer service will be held Friday at 7:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home, led by Deacon Chuck Glynn.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 am at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church with Father Michael Lyons officiating.

Burial will follow at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery - Frelsburg.
