James “Carey” Ammons, 61, of Troutman, passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2018.

He was born on January 17, 1957 in Conway, SC, to the late Eugenia Turner Dyson and William “Wimpy” Ammons.

Carey worked as a Pest Control technician.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Clayton Dyson; and nephew, Matt Stewart.

He is survived by his wife, Kim Wright Ammons; daughters, Cecilia A. Smith and husband, Josh, Candace J. Ammons; brother, Ken Ammons and wife, Karen; sister, Bonnie A. Stewart and husband, Mike; step-sons, Corwin Freeze and wife, Danielle, Kevin Stutts and fiancée, Heather Foster; grandchildren, Jace, Carter, Cade, Hayden, Finley, and Brayden; nieces, Mandy and JR Cook and children, Kendra and Andy Roark and children, Angel and Jacob Whitlow and children; nephews, Kory and Ingrid Ammons; mother-in-law, Mary L. Weatherford; and special family friends, Dorothy and Sami Vlack.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2 from 2:00-4:00 PM with a service following at 4:00 PM at RiverLife Fellowship Church with Rev. Byron Wicker and Rev. JR Cook officiating. Burial will follow the service at Glenwood Memorial Park.

Cavin-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory, Mooresville, is serving the Ammons family.
