The funeral service for James "Leo" Green, age 81 of Coleta Valley, formerly of Pinson, will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Pinson United Methodist Church with Rev. Mark Zelladonis, Kipp Nelson and Rev. Dr. Joe Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow in the Marvin's Chapel Cemetery in Pinson.

Mr. Green passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at his residence. He was a native of Birmingham, a graduate of Hewitt-Trussville High School, attended Jefferson State Community College and was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Mr. Green had lived in Pinson where he was a member of Pinson United Methodist church, serving on the administrative board. He was the owner and operator of Darden-Green Company Inc. Heating and Air for over 40 years, later moved to Clay County, lived there for the last 25 years and was a member and deacon of Hatchet Creek Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Morgan Hardee Green of Coleta Valley; four daughters: Joy Waldrop (Rick Miller) of Pinson, Jan Bollinger (Eddie) of Haymarket, VA, Bobbie Green and Susan Nelson (Kevin) both of Pinson; one son, Eddie Hardee (Kristie) of Talladega; one brother, William "Billy" Green (Dot) of Hayden; 14 grandchildren: April Williams (David), Christy Duke (Jason), Jeb Bollinger, Ray Waldrop, Ashley Pieczynski (Josh Shepperson), Shane Bollinger, BJ Nappo (Tony), Samantha Coffey (Tim Daniel), Kristen McCaskill (Landon), Lauren Daniel (Jake), Tommy Coffey, Kipp Nelson, Parker Nelson and Sydney Hardee; 9 great-grandchildren: Ivy Williams (Tanner Fitzpatrick), Erin Williams, Timothy Daniel Jr., Kylee Shepperson, Brayden Shepperson, Kaydence Bollinger, Beau Daniel, Greer McCaskill and Reese Daniel; one great-great- granddaughter, Lily Fitzpatrick, plus numerous nieces and nephews, beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Green; his parents: Carl A. Green and Hilda Green; two brothers: Wallace Green and Ronald Green and one sister, Linda Lesley.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Stowell, Matt Stowell, Tommy Coffey, David Williams, Parker Nelson, Danny Green, Charles Green and Greg Green. Honorary pallbearers will be Nash Spires, Neal McKee and Larry Green.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland. Mr. Green will lie in state at the church from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
