Youngest son of the late Ivy Arthur Williford and Fairy Sophia Clemmer Williford. He was born in Bostic, N.C., and grew up there and in several of the other surrounding towns. He married Marjorie Gallant Barr in 1941. He served bravely in World War II, stationed on the island of Ie Shima, arriving just after the legendary war correspondent Ernie Pyle was killed by a sniper. He worked for C.D. Stampley as a computer analyst until his retirement. Not long after, he decided he wanted to "see the country", something he had always wanted to do, but hindered by work and responsibilities at home. He and Marjorie acquired a camper and took off, spending four months traveling the United States at will, a time they both thoroughly enjoyed. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy, and her husband Burson, 4 nephews (Bates, Jack, Tom, and Bill), and many loving friends. He cherished family above all and particularly enjoyed the many good times had at the Clemmer Family Reunion. My Dad gave me many things, most importantly his sense of honor and his delightful sense of humor.

He was a proud Mason, Scottish Rite (Eastgate Lodge, Charlotte NC), and Shriner, Oasis Temple.
