Joan Elizabeth Weber, age 91, of Kankakee passed away at 4:05 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at Presence Heritage Village. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2016 at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Friday at Schilling Funeral Home. Joan was born on October 20, 1924 in Mattoon, the daughter of James M. and Irma Sampson. On February 15, 1947 she married Bernard P. Weber who preceded her in death December 23, 1999. Surviving is her son, Steven (Kate) Weber of Norfolk, England; daughter, Karen (Mike) Michalski of Bourbonnais, IL; four grandchildren, Sara (Luke) Marshall, Ellen Weber, Paul (Lindsay) Michalski and Scott (Nicole) Michalski; nine great grandchildren, Eleana, Tobey, Alice, Katie, Mason, Sawyer, Lucas, Ian and Avery; brother, Robert Sampson; sisters, Helen (Ken) Johnson and Eileen (Don) Summers; sister-in-law, Uldine Weber; several nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Sampson; sisters, Norma Torano, Elflida Fleshner, Rosalie Jones Pierce and Marjorie Ryan. Joan was born and raised in the Mattoon area and was a member of the Broadway Christian Church. She was a seamstress many years at Crawford Garment and Shoe Factory in Mattoon. In her retirement years, she enjoyed the Lifespan Center, participating in crafts, painting classes, exercise classes, volunteer services and line dancing. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the wishes of the family or to the Alzheimers Association.
