Daniel B. Tarbell graduated from Proctor Academy and Nichols College. He became president of Badger Farms Creameries in Portsmouth after his grandfather, founder Daniel W. Badger, died in 1952. A seasoned yachtsman, over the years he owned numerous boats, most notably the 44' Herreshoff sloop "Kestrel."
