Wilma LaVerne (Crosswhite) Graves of McKinney, Texas passed away June 1, 2018 at the age of 84. She was born on January 25, 1934 to Caleb Alexander and Minnie Iva (Nixon) Crosswhite in Princeton, Texas. LaVerne married Ben D. Graves on February 3, 1986 in Quitman, Texas. She was a member of Waddill Street Baptist Church in McKinney, Texas

LaVerne is survived by her daughters, Alinda Joy Crosswhite-Pinkham and husband, Tony of Frisco, Texas and Joni Marie Craghead of McKinney, Texas; son, Jack Anthony Shanks and wife, Betsy of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Steven, Brandy, Tony, Mason, and James; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Royce Nixon “Nick” Crosswhite of Abilene, Texas; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ben D. Graves; her parents, Caleb and Minnie Crosswhite; and eight brothers and sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
