Note: No death or burial record has been found for Deliverance, and she has no extant gravestone. However, when she died in Warwick, the Greene family cemetery had already been established with the death of her father-in-law five years earlier, and her husband was later interred here. It seems unreasonable that she would be buried elsewhere. Her death year is the year her last child was born, as her husband remarried in 1665.

Deliverance was the daughter of Robert and Isabel Potter of Roxbury, Mass. and Warwick, Rhode Island. She was baptized at the Boston church on 5 March 1636/7, but her father was called of Roxbury in the baptismal record, and that is likely where Deliverance was born. Not long after her baptism, her family came to Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and then to Warwick by 1643. She was married c. 1657 to James Greene of Warwick, the son of Surgeon John Greene and Joanne Tatersole.

There is some mis-information surrounding Deliverance that should be presented. First, her mother's maiden name has been given as both Anthony and Tripp. The reason for these assertions is that her brother John Potter had an uncle John Anthony, and her father Robert Potter was uncle to John Tripp. However, Anderson, in the Great Migration series, cautions that these statements can be construed in different ways, and the maiden name of Isabel has as yet not been determined. The other erroneous assertion made is that Deliverance died of exposure while out in the wilderness. No, she likely died in 1664 due to complications of childbirth. According to the 1904 genealogy of the Greene family, it was her mother, Isabel, who died of exposure when the Massachusetts authorities raided Warwick in 1643, and took many of the Warwick men prisoner.

The children of Deliverance and James, born in Warwick, were:

* James, b. 1 Jun 1658

* Mary, b. 28 Sep 1660

* Elisha, b. 17 March 1662

* Sarah, b. 27 March 1664.

Following the death of Deliverance, her husband m. (2) 3 Aug 1665 Elizabeth Anthony, daughter of John and Susanna Anthony.
