Susie Anna Long was the daughter of Joseph Edwin Long and Henrietta Jane Smith. When her father left, the family was raised by his brother Robert Jefferson Long.

Paul Long stated: Aunt Susie was born near Garden City Kansas.
When Susie was a young girl her father left the family. She went to grade school before they had paper and pencils, she carried a slate to school. No one is for sure if she graduated from high school, but she did attend business college in Chillicothe, Missouri.

Susie has told a story about how the family came back from Kansas in a covered wagon, no one knows how they got out to Kansas or why they went.

Susie was not very old when she went to work for the St. Joseph Missouri telephone office.
Susie had 2 sisters Loe and Zina and 1 brother, George.
She met and married Roy Scott Jennings and they had 6 children.

Susie married Roy Scott Jennings on January 16, 1907. They had six children: Ellis Woodson; Donald Woodson; Zina May; Helen; Geneva E; and Geraldine Betty Jennings.
