He died at home at 21181 Alum Rock Falls Road near San Jose, California.
His funeral was in Williams Chapel and featured a lovely rendition of "Beyond the Sunset", sung by Georgia Spradlin. Organist was Anita Graves.
He left behind his wife Velma Johnson Nicholas and her two children, who he had adopted after the death of their father.
