Edward Lamont (Mont) Newhart, 84, of Iberia, died Tuesday, August 7, at a Jefferson City hospital. A native of Miller County, Mr. Newhart was born December 10, 1896, a son of Charles and Nellie Moore Newhart. On November 6, 1913, he was married near Iberia to the former Miss Flossie Humphrey, who died September 2, 1972.
He was a retired farmer and a member of the Bray's Advent Christian Church at Iberia. He was a lifelong resident of Miller County.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mrs. Helen Buenger, Granite City, Ill.; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The funeral was conducted at 2 p.m., Friday, August 10, at the Stevinson Funeral Home, Iberia, with the Rev. Everett Ransom officiating. Burial was in Union Cemetery at Iberia.
