Funeral services for Ruthie Edwards Champion, 96, were held Wednesday, August 10, 1988, at 10:00 A.M. from the Poplar Baptist Church. Rev. James Fortenberry officiated. Interment was made in the Poplar Cemetery in Conehatta.
Mrs. Champion passed away Monday, August 8, 1988, at the Hill Top Manor Nursing Home in Union. A Native of Newton County she had lived most of her life in Morton. She had been a resident of Union for the past nine years. She was a member of the Poplar Baptist Church.
Survivors include several nieces, cousins, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Frank Davidson, Milton Thornton, Frankie Edwards, Perry Gill, Elton Wall and Malcom Phillips. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Forest was in charge of arrangements.
