Memorial services celebrating the life of Mary Ellen Johnston of the Jimtown community are set for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2018, in Marietta's First Baptist Church with Lawrence Anderson officiating, assisted by Merl Bone.
The daughter of W.B. "Jimmy" Morgan and Mary Loving Morgan, Mary was born April 17, 1949 at Simon, OK. She passed away Saturday, July 28, in Mercy Health Love County, Marietta, at the age of 69.
A resident of Love County all of her life, Mary attended school at Meadowbrook, graduated from Turner High School with the Class of 1967, and then received a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Durant. She and Tim Johnston were married on June 5, 1971 at Eastman. Mary had been employed as an administrative assistant with Marietta Abstract Company since 1977. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all, spending time with family and friends, especially her granddaughters. Mary was a faithful member of Eastman Baptist Church as long as her health permitted.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and two sisters, Jean Morgan and Polly Colburn.
She is survived by her husband, Tim, of the home; son, Jeff Johnston and wife Courtney of Richardson, TX; two brothers, Glenn Morgan of Fort Worth, TX and Finley Morgan of the Simon community; four sisters, Jessie McGill of Cleveland, TX, Winnie Hood of Fort Worth, Jo Thompson of Falconhead, and Jill Anderson of Hurst, TX; and three granddaughters, Ava, Livi, and Cora.
Honorary bearers are Merl Bone, Ronnie Colston, Ronnie Norton, Jimmy Gale Tynes, Bruce Keeler, Steve Birdwell, Joe Jennings, Johnny Hartman, and Larry Conway.
