Funeral for Eva Byars, 78, of Nacogdoches, Texas will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Laird Funeral Home with Bro. John Denby officiating. Burial will be in Alazan Cemetery.

Ms. Byars died Saturday, July 28, 2018, in Nacogdoches, Texas. She was born August 15, 1939 in Shelbyville, Texas.

Eva was born in Shelbyville to Robert Earl Wheeler, and Nancy Buelah Holt Wheeler. She attended and graduated from Center High School. Soon after graduation she moved to Nacogdoches to attend Massey Business College. After college she worked as a secretary for many years at a doctor’s office.

She enjoyed gardening and most of her time was spent working on her beautiful flower beds. She liked putting jigsaw puzzles together and caring for her beloved dogs. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She was proud of her family and loved them dearly.

Eva was a devoted Christian, she was a member at Harvest Point for over 60 years. She enjoyed spending her days at church, reading her bible and singing hymns.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Byars, Christian Byars, Brendan Byars, A.L. Henson, Elvin Ray Henson, and David Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Collins, Don Collins, Eugene Fuller, and Walter Colleps.

She is survived by her daughter, Lesha Byars of Nacogdoches; her sons: Scott Wayne Byars of Garland and Robert Morgan of Leander; grandchildren: Matthew Aaron Byars of Maydale, Christian Byars of Plano, Brendan Byars, and Laci Byars both of Leander, along with other family and close friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents Robert Earl Wheeler, and Nancy Buelah Holt Wheeler, her brother, Robert Cecil Wheeler, and sisters Ima Jean Jackson and Elaine Bailey.
