Albert Robert Thayer was born on 5. May. 1874 at Mora, Manson County, Illinois. He was the son of Enos Thayer and Mary Elizabeth Faries. Albert Robert Thayer married Sarah Ella Wall on 7. Mar. 1900 at Home of the Bride's parents, Maple Valley, Buena Vista County, Iowa; Thayer-Wall Marriage
Married at the home of the Bride's Parents in Maple Valley township, on Wednesday evening March 7, Mr. Bert S. Thayer and Miss Ells Wall. Rev J. L. Whitney officiating. Nearly one hundred friends were present at seven o'clock, when to the strains of the wedding march played by Miss Edith Parker, the bridal pair took thier appointed place and took the vows of matrimony. Miss Alice Comer, of Dubuque county attended the bride, while the groomsman was Art Thayer. Mr. Thayer is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Enos Thayer, and a worthy young man. Mrs. Thayer is the eldest Daughter of Geo. Wall, a young lady who has many friends, because of her admirable qualities. They will make thier home in the Valley.

Bert Thayer resident of this county for 48 years and one of the most well-known and highly esteemed resident of the community died at his home on West 5th Street last Thursday night. Mr. Thayer had been an ill health for many years, his illness being due to an injury received as in young manhood. For several months he had been in failing rapidly and for the past few weeks his condition has been serious.
Bert Thayer was born May 5, 1874 in Mora, Manson County, Illinois, and at the time of his death, Oct. 25th, 1928 was 54 years five months and 20 days of age.
He lived Illinois until the spring of 1882, when he moved with his parents to Storm Lake, IA and settled on a farm in Maple Valley Township.
March 7 1900, he was united marriage to Miss Ella Wall, and two children came to gladden their home, they are Orville Robert Thayer, on the home place, and Ida May, now Mrs. B. B. Boyd, at home.
Mr. Thayer and his family resided on their Maple Valley Township until the spring of 1921 when they move to their present home on West 5th Street, Storm Lake.
Besides his devoted wife and two children he is survived by two grandchildren, Dorothy Ann Thayer and Marion Louise Boyd, two brothers and two sisters; Harry and Claudia Thayer of Storm Lake, Arthur of Alta and Mrs. Ollie Crouse of Hollywood CA. He also leaves his other relatives and a host of friends. Mr. Thayer was a devoted husband and father and a kind friend and neighbor and was held in the highest regard by all who knew him.
Funeral services were held from the home last Saturday afternoon at 2:00 conducted by the Rev. O. M. Bond, assisted by the Rev. J. L. Whitney of Early. Rev. Whitney preached the funeral sermon. He officiated at the marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Thayer 28 years ago and also the marriage of their daughter. His sermon was most impressive. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Ira Angier, Mrs. Amy D. Woodruff and Fred Jones, saying several selections during the funeral service. Mrs. Buren Anderson was the accompaniment. Burial was at the Alta Cemetery. The funeral was largely attended and the flower offerings were many and beautiful and showing the highest esteem in which Mr. Thayer was held. The pallbearers were George Angier, Ira Angier, John Coulson, Charles Schlief, Albert Brecher and George Totman of Quimby.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Wall, Mr. and Mrs. James Forkner of Gaza were among those from out of town in attendance at the funeral. Many other relatives and friends from the Alta vicinity as well as many from Storm Lake community attended.
