Mary Lou DeLong was born on September 2, 1927 and was the daughter of Roy A. and Tracy DeLong. She married F. Glen Atherly on November 24, 1951. He preceded her in death on November 1, 2009. She is survived by two children, Steve Atherly & Diana Wilson; grandchildren, great-grandson, as well as a sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, F. Glen Atherly; siblings, Lester DeLong, Bertha Claycamp, Roy A. DeLong, Jr., Laura Dalrymple, Merle DeLong, Wendall DeLong; as well as a Grandson, Jeff Atherly 1983-2012. Mary Lou was an office manager for FHA in Burlington, KS. and was a recipient of the Federal Government Outstanding Service Award. She enjoyed writing, and was a published author of four books. She was a public speaker, and enjoyed being in front of people. She loved her family, and enjoyed traveling. She was proud to have written and performed in several plays. She taught Creative Writing classes.
