Erial - George W. Carr. Sr. "Pop" age 87, passed away at his home in Erial, surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 26, 2018. He was born on August 15, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA to Raymond and Ella May Carr(nee Freeman).

On July 2, 1952, he married Anna D. Nuding. Together, they had 10 children.

George was a Corporal in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War, where he earned several medals, including the Good Conduct Medal, Occupation Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was assigned to the 829th Engineer Aviation Battalion assigned to the SCARWAF war project. He was in the glider pilot program and a paratrooper. He was a lifetime member of Erial VFW Post 5794 and enjoyed going to area schools and community events and spending time with his fellow members. George was a longtime member of the Erial Ambulance Squad and was key in its inception. He was also a lifelong member of the International Union of Operating Engineers local 542.

George is predeceased by his beloved wife, Anna D. Carr; He is survived by his children George, Jr., Raymond, Sr. (Helen); Anna Jaconski (late Ray); Cheryl Colan (Joe); Geraldine Taxis; Joseph (Angela); Cynthia Hassett (Jimbo); Harry (Shelly); Lori Davis (Bill); and the late Eva Mae; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

George is survived by his sister Ella Mae Kratz "Dolly" (Harry); he is predeceased by his siblings Eleanor Brass (late Cliff); Raymond J. (surviving sister in law Alice); and Katherine Miller (late Jim Betancourt).

Urn visitation will be Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 9:30 AM - 10:30 AM at Erial Community Church, 1725 New Brooklyn Erial Rd, Erial, NJ, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 AM. Urn Burial will be at Beverly National Cemetery, 916 Bridgeboro Rd., Beverly, NJ.
