PICAYUNE ? Shelia Marie Walker

"For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us." - Roman 8:18

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. at New Home Ministries, 1616 Carondelet Street, New Orleans, La., for Shelia Marie Walker, 59, of New Orleans who passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Bishop Robert Blakes will officiate at the service.

Shelia Marie Walker was born in Gulfport, Miss., to the late Shirley Marie Breland and Elliot Walker on November 19, 1952. She was baptized at an early age at New Home Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Freddie H. Dunn and continued her membership under the leadership of Prophet Robert Charles Blakes Sr., faithfully singing in the choir and serving on numerous committees until God called her home.

Shelia was a graduate of Booker T. Washington and received her Bachelors degree in Education at Southern University in New Orleans. Returning to her alma mater as a Special Education Teacher over twenty plus years. To know her was to love her for she exercised love, kindness and a beautiful smile, certainly if love and care could have kept her here, she'll be here now and forever. But on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 Goc said Shelia, your pain, worry, tears, restlessness are over. Come and I will give you eternal rest, she answered the call and went to her heavenly home.

She was preceded in death by: her father, Alex Walker; stepfather, Joseph Pollard; mother, Shirley M. Breland Pollard; son, Mark Henry; maternal grandparents, Clinton Breland, Wilfret McKee Sr., and Willie Mae Breland McKee; and one uncle, Harold McKee. We will all miss her fashionable and personable on this place called Earth. However, her spirit will continue to live in our hearts and souls. In that great getting up morning we shall have a great reunion when we see Jesus hallelujah…

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Heritage Funeral Directors, New Orleans.

Interment will be in Picayune Cemetery. Entrusted to Brown's Funeral Home, Picayune, Miss.
