Larry E. Leonard, age 77, of Bristol, Tenn., went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was born March 12, 1941 in Bristol, Va., a son of the late Johnny and Ruth Whittaker Leonard. Larry was a U.S. Marine Corps. Veteran and a lifelong resident of the Bristol area. He was a self-employed contractor and retired from Rock City Mechanical in Nashville with 17 years of service. Larry was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church where he was a Deacon and Chairman of the Christian Life Center, and served with the Food Pantry and Meals on Wheels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny M. Leonard.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Buckles Leonard; daughter, Robin Wheeling and husband Andy; son, David E. Leonard and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Brooke Graybeal, David K. Leonard and wife Jennifer, Katie L. Shaffer and husband Jamie, Megan Lyness and husband Shawn, Cory Phillips, Maura Trice and husband Tim, Sara Beth Wheeling, Kierstan Wheeling, and Drew Wheeling; great grandchildren, Maksim, Madelyn, Maggie, J.B., Eddie, Gabbie, Tucker, Parker, and Baby Shaffer; brother, James Leonard; several nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Joyce Buckles.

The funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018 at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Blankenship and Pastor Buddy Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m. prior to the service. The interment will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Mountain Home National Cemetery, Military honors will be conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Woodlawn Baptist Church, Christian Life Center, 1400 Southside Ave, Bristol, TN 37620.
