He leaves his wife of 64 years, Nancy J. (Keenan) Massey; three sons, David Massey and his wife Jessica of Charlotte, NC, Mark Massey of Newton and Daniel Massey of Rowayton, CT; two daughters, Sue Piermarini and her husband Bruce of West Brookfield and Donna Slade and her husband Elliott of Palo Alto, CA; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two siblings, Richard Massey and Winifred Tillotson. He was born in Ballston Spa, NY son of the late Wesley F. and Margaret J. (Levey) Massey and grew up in Schenectady, NY and later lived in Burlington, VT, West Hartford, CT and Leominster before
moving to Pittsfield in 1980.
Donald received his Undergraduate Degree from the University of Vermont and his Master’s Degree in Economics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY.
Mr. Massey worked as an engineer for General Electric and served as a Commissioned Officer of the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Pittsfield and enjoyed working on cars, flying private planes and collecting coins and stamps.
