Janet Elaine Chapman was born May 16, 1947 in Stamford, Texas to her parents, M.E. “Mickey” Dodgen and Lovella Martin Dodgen. She married Wayne Chapman in Eastland on April 9, 1966. Janet was a very caring and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a strong compassion for the lost and people in need. Family was very important to her and she was always the best hostess with a whole itinerary full of food, games and laughter. Janet was pastor at Maranatha Fellowship in Albany and has served in ministry for 40 years. She will always be remembered as a powerful teacher, mighty prayer warrior and a strong intercessor for her church and community. Janet never shied away from expressing her love for Jesus wherever she went throughout the community. To her church family she was Pastor Janet, but to her family and grandkids she was MeMe, and MeMe loved her family and grandkids dearly. She taught all of her grandkids how to love, laugh and worship. MeMe was always uplifting and encouraging to her family. One skill that MeMe polished often was photography. She always captured the best of our family moments. We lost our cherished daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt, MeMe, pastor and friend, but Heaven gained a fierce woman of faith. She was preceded in death by her father, M.E. “Mickey” Dodgen.
Janet is survived by her husband of 52 years, Wayne Chapman of Albany; her mother, Lovella Dodgen of Albany; 3 children, Gina Prentiss & husband Steve of Temple, Clint Chapman & wife Christi of Albany, Brian Chapman of Temple; 5 grandkids, Carsyn Prentiss, Chloe Prentiss, Cole Chapman, Caroline Chapman, Clay Chapman; one brother, Dennis Dodgen & wife Peggy of Albany.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the mission fund through Maranatha Fellowship and may be left at Morehart Mortuary. Condolences may be made online at www.morehartmortuary.net
