He was Sergeant in the United States Army and gave 7 years of service to our country, which included a tour in Afghanistan as a combat medic, earning his Combat Action Badge in 2013. He had been a Recruiter in Patchogue, New York since June 2017. Just after midnight, on July 20th, 2018, he died in a single-car crash in East Patchogue, New York.
Jon had a heart of gold and would put everything aside at a moment’s notice to help anyone in need. Whether he was collecting and distributing toys to underprivileged children or supporting the local breast cancer organization, Jonathan will always be remembered for his kind and loving heart.
Jonathan is survived by his mother, Valerie Collins; father, Lance Collins; grandmother; Thelma M Collins; his uncles and aunts, Patrick & Janice Donnelly, Larry & Nancy Schilder; Terri & Sam Steinhauer, and Kriste & Bob Ashley; his cousins, Alexis, Jessica, Mandy, Robert, Kristen, Stephanie, Joshua, Seth, Kayla and Tyler and his extensive network of friends that are more like family that span across the world.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Judith Schilder, and grandfather, Neil A Collins.
