Sycamore - John B. "Jack" Gobs Sr. of 5096 TH 11, Sycamore, died at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky, at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002. He was 72.
Born in Bethlehem, Pa., on Aug. 21, 1929, he was a son of John and Mary (Bigelow) Gobs. On Nov. 11, 1949, he married Shirley Yates, who survives.
Also surviving are five children, John Jr. and Michael, both of rural Sycamore; Gordon, Drum, Pa.; Chris Trott, Republic;and Karen Reed, rural New Riegel; nine grandchildren, Jason Gobs; Amy Sigler; Angie Reiter; Ron Trott Jr.; Jeremy Reed; Janelle Reed; Jackie, Roxanne and Mia Gobs; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Janice Roman, Bethlehem; two brothers, Greg and Clay, both of Bethlehem. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Mary; a granddaughter, Melodie Trott; and a brother, Joseph.
Mr. Gobs retired after 39 years as health and safety coordinator at Honeywell (formerly Autolite) in Fostoria. A member of Local 533 UAW in Fostoria, he served as its president for 17 years. He was also a member of Sycamore American Legion Post 250 and Tiffin Moose Lodge 846, and was of the Protestant faith.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
Friends may call at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday. memorials may be made to Hospice of Wyandot County.
