Otha Grant Brown, 83, went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 21, 2018. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 at the Welch Church of Christ, with Nick Shock and Kalith Brown officiating. Burial followed at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home.

Otha was born three miles east of Elmore City, Oklahoma to Charles Sheldon and Julia Ester Brown on April 7, 1935.

Otha spent his childhood in both Oklahoma and Texas, in the Welch area. He attended Dawson School. Otha and Veneda Young were married June 18, 1954 at the home of the bride’s parents. For about 10 years Otha worked mostly for Delta Engineers as a sheet metal specialist but he always wanted to farm. In 1965 they moved to farm about 9 miles east of Wellman. He farmed for about 55 years. Otha and Veneda have two sons and two daughters: Rhnea McAbee of Welch and Jalene Young and husband, Larry of Brownfield, Kalith Brown and wife, Vaughn of Welch and Ed Martin of Welch.

Otha and Veneda have six granddaughters, Jada Shock and husband, Nick of Buda, Kyla Muns and husband, Alan of Tyler, Sena Reese and husband, Daniel of Lamesa, De’Aun Hipster and husband, Kyle of San Angelo, Daresa Melton and husband, David of Brownfield, and Jordan Glover and husband, Cutter of Lazbuddie. They have six grandsons, Nick and Colby Jolley of Welch, Kanyon Brown and wife, Erika of Welch, Landon Brown and wife, Bailey of Lamesa, Derek Young and wife, Lyndi of Lubbock, and Colt Martin of Odessa. They are blessed with fifteen great-grandsons; and twelve great-grand daughters. Otha is survived by one sister, Zona White and husband, Jim of Albuquerque, NM. Preceding him in death were five sisters: and three brothers.

Otha loved Welch and loved his church where he was baptized in 1951 and served as an elder for more than 20 years.
