Died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, 1980, at Our Lady of the Lake Reginal Medical Center. He was 74, a native and lifelong resident of Plaquemine. He was a retired boilermaker with local 582. He was a Navy veteran of WWII. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Plaquemine. Religious services at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine. Burial in Grace Memorial Park.

Survived by his wife, Mrs. Charlene Murphy Martinez, Plaquemine; a daughter, Mrs. Robby (Teresa) Coughlin, St. Gabriel; a son Rodney H. Bankston, Port Allen; a brother, George E. Martinez, Sr., Plaquemine; and a granddaughter, Chrissie Kay Coughlin.

Preceded in death by a sister, Bertha Edwards, four brothers, John, William and Sidney Martinez, and Eddie Albarado, and a nephew, Billy Martinez.

He was a member of American Legion Post 167. He was a former Iberville Parish Deputy and Marshal of north Plaquemine.
