*Charles Morton Parton was born Mar. 15, 1846 in Jasper, Marion Co. Tennessee to Thomas and Jane Ridley Parton. He entered the military in July of 1863 in Harrison, Tennessee as a private with the 18th Alabama Infantry Co C. Charlie, as he was known, was wounded at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee in December of 1864. When the 18th surrendered, he was still in the hospital in Franklin, Tennessee.
*After the war, he married Mary Lucilla Marshall, the daughter of Ansalom Marshall and Malissa Greer Apr. 22. 1877 in Jackson Co. Alabama and had five children. He passed away January 18, 1921 in Flat Rock and was buried in Parton Cemetery on his old home place.
*Mary passed away Jan. 11, 1938 in Flat Rock and is buried next to Charlie. She was born March 31, 1858.
