Steele, Mary Evarts
Died peacefully on January 7 at her home in Cambridge. She lived for many years in New York City, and moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2003. She was an artist and a political activist, a lover of animals, and an eternal optimist. She fought for social justice and tried to make the world a better place. She is survived by her sister Kate, her brother Jasper, her daughter Hope and granddaughter Anna, her son Ben and daughter-in-law Jane Zimmerman, and many nieces and nephews and their children. We all miss her very much. A memorial/celebration of her life will be held at Youville House, 1573 Cambridge Street, Cambridge MA on Saturday, January 19, beginning at 3:30 pm. Instead of flowers, contributions can be made to MoveOn.org or to a memorial "Panda Page" at the World Wildlife Fund, at
