Florence M. Robilliard Reed, 81, of Hepzibah and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Tuesday (July 24, 2018) at United Hospital Center, with her daughters by her side.
Florence was born on September 12, 1936 in Shinnston, a daughter of the late Augustin and Rose Puccio Robilliard. Florence married the love of her life, Robert D. "Bob" Reed, on September 24, 1966, at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Shinnston. They were married for 47 blissful years until Bob's passing on March 19, 2014.
Florence graduated from Victory High School in Clarksburg in 1954. In 1968, Florence and Bob moved to Leesburg, Virginia, where they both worked for AT&T. They returned to Bridgeport in 1973. Florence worked as a stay at home mom for a period of time, and also worked for CNP Telephone and as an Avon Sales Representative. She became a licensed insurance agent and worked as office manager for Webster Insurance Agency in Bridgeport for more than 30 years, until her retirement in 2008.
Florence enjoyed many hobbies, including sewing, painting ceramics, and playing piano. She also liked to travel to Amish country and on special "girls trip" weekends to Big Bear Lake. She would often accompany Bob on trips in the couple's motor home, including to area dirt track races and sports car shows as part of the Clarksburg Sports Car Club. She especially loved cooking, and no family gathering was complete without Florence's spaghetti and meatballs. Most of all, she enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her family. She adored and was very proud of her three grandchildren. She was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport.
Florence is survived by two daughters, Roberta "Bobbi Jo" and husband Mark Gray of Lost Creek, and Melissa and husband Clint McCabe of Morgantown; a brother, Charles Robilliard and wife Josephine of Hepzibah; two sisters-in-law, Patty and husband Nick Lambernedis of Clarksburg, and Chyrl Hitt of Clarksburg; two brothers-in-law, Lloye Reed and wife Mary Ann of Clarksburg, and William Ashcraft and wife Peggy of Clarksburg; three grandchildren, Brandon and Lindsey Gray, and Daphne McCabe; special niece Tammy Stalensky, husband John, and daughter Amber of Mt. Clare; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Florence was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Zelma and husband William "Babe" Salentro; and a sister-in-law, Linda Sue Ashcraft. Florence was a kind, caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.
The family will receive friends from 2-8 p.m. Thursday, July 26 at Davis Funeral Home on Rt. 98/Clarksburg. A vigil service will be held on at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27 at All Saints Catholic Church in Bridgeport, with Father Chris Turner as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at DavisFuneralHomeWV.com Davis Funeral Home is honored to serve the Reed family.`
