Phyllis was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School. During her working years she was a secretary for St. Regis, Marion Community Schools and for Afena Credit Union. For 30 years Phyllis was a radio talk show host for the “Strictly for Ladies” show that aired on WBAT five days a week. She also taught a charm school class at the Hostess House and was a former member of Altrusa. She married Richard Fowler on December 20, 1976. Mr. Fowler preceded her in death on October 4, 2006.
She is survived by her children, J. D. Whiteman, Richmond, Virgina; Ann M. Whiteman, Naperville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Nathan (Eva) Armstrong, Huntley, Illinois; Dale Armstrong, United States Airforce; two great-grandchildren, Kaylie Armstrong and Alexa Armstrong.
There will be a private family visitation on Friday, July 20, 2018 in Owen-Weilert-Duncan Funeral Home, Marion Chapel, 2722 South Washington Street, Marion, Indiana. The committal service will be held at 10am on Friday in Marion National Cemetery, 1700 East 38th Street, Marion, Indiana.
