Funeral services for Harold W. Atkins, 86, of Ruston are scheduled for Thursday, July 26, at 10:00 AM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston. Dr. Reggie Bridges and Rev. Dale Oden will officiate. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 25 from 5-7 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
Harold was born in Ruston, LA on June 11, 1932 to Felix Edwin and Thelma Liner Atkins and passed away on July 23, 2018 in Ruston. He was a self employed building contractor, a member of Temple Baptist Church, and an Air Force veteran.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Norma Nelson Atkins; daughter Carla Atkins Colvin (John Ed Jr.) of Ruston; granddaughter Beth Colvin Alber (Jason E.) of Richardson, TX; great grandson Colton James Alber of Richardson, TX; nephews and nieces: Roy E. Nelson, Jr. (Leska) of Dubach, Charles W. Nelson of Dubach, Jacob Nelson of Dubach, Jay Atkins of Ruston, Kim Birch of Ruston, Karen Brown of Benton, LA, Laura Colvin of Alaska, and Michael Colvin of Shreveport.
Pallbearers honoring Harold are Roy Nelson, Charles Nelson, Jacob Nelson, Mark Moore, Kyle Edmiston, Jerry Owen, Milt May, and Lee Culbertson. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Rainer and Jay Atkins.
