Mrs. E. N. Barney, formerly Mrs. Hicinbotham, died at her home at Portland last Thursday. Her body was brought to Columbus, this county, and interred in the cemetery there on Sunday. Mrs. Barney was about 65 years of age, and lived for years in Klickitat County, where she had many friends. She was born in Toledo, Ohio, August 30, 1848, and came to Oregon with her parents in 1852. Her father died in Portland soon after their arrival. Two children were left with the mother. Rev. M. R. Brown, is pastor of a Methodist Church at Spokane. For 30 years Mrs. Barney lived in the vicinity of Columbus and Goldendale, going to Portland in 1905, where she lived until her death. For nearly 50 years she was an ardent member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a member of First Church, Portland, and was well known and honored by all in the church.
