Mike was born in Washington D.C. August 2, 1955. He was the son of Mary Ann Huffman and the late Dallas Huffman of Fort Valley, Virginia.

Mike is survived by his three sons, Joshua Huffman of Portland, Oregon, James Huffman of Boulder, Colorado, and Jason Huffman of Littleton, Colorado; and brother, Brian Huffman of Mechanicsville, Maryland.

Rochelle was born in Fort Dodge Iowa August 29, 1955. She was the daughter of the late Wilhelmine Wenzel Renken and Herman Hiyo Renken.

Rochelle is survived by her two sisters, Kathy Holst of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Nancy (Gene) Turner of Griswold, Iowa; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close friends.

Mike served in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. Mike earned a Bachelor's degree in Forestry Management from Utah State University where he worked as a Forestry Technician.

Mike made his way to Missouri where he began his 28 year career with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) starting as a Resource Forester and concluding his career as the Division Chief for Outreach and Education. Mike went out west many years to fight wildfires, working his way up to a Wildland Fire Crew Boss.

Mike was a Boy Scout Troop Leader and led trips to camps in the Florida Keys, Philmont N.M, and the Canadian Boundary Waters with his sons. Mike enjoyed camping, canoeing, rafting, and hiking in the Ozarks, the Colorado Rockies or wherever there was a river or mountain to be found.

Mike strived to educate others about caring for and enjoying our natural spaces.

Rochelle earned a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Wildlife Biology at Iowa State University and a Ph.D. in Fisheries and Wildlife from the University of Missouri- Columbia.

Rochelle was devoted to conservation and the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) concluding her 28 year career as a Research Scientist and Division Chief. Rochelle's work took her across North America including recording Yellow-Billed Loon behaviors on Alaska's Arctic Coast, banding Marbled Godwits and Willets on the prairies of North Dakota, surveying Grouse leks and Raptor nests in Wyoming, monitoring birds and mammals in Florida and initiating a 100-Year Research Project (MOFEP) in the Ozarks.

Rochelle was also a published author and mentor among her many other contributions. Rochelle was an intent listener and the kindest person you would ever meet.

Mike and Rochelle met while working for the MDC. They were married August 16, 1997 in Rocheport, Missouri. They shared a love of nature and enthusiasm for life.

After being separated, due to their careers so frequently throughout their marriage, Mike and Rochelle were on a long planned trip in their retirement that was taking them through the Canadian Rockies and Alaska where they passed, spending their final moments together for eternity.
