C. R. Hunt grew up with parents and siblings in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, in what is now LeFlore County. In 1895, he moved with a large group of family members to Hartshorne in Pittsburg County.
He married first June 6, 1895, at age 21, to Martha Wilbanks, age 16, of Wister, I.T. The marriage apprently did not last. In the 1900 census he is listed as unmarried and living in the household of his mother and father in Hartshorne; his occupation is shown as barber.
In 1902 he married a second time to Mary Thompson Mowbry, a widow with one son whom C. R. adopted. The son, Sterling Mowbry, was killed in WW-I at Flanders Field.
In 1905 C.R. Hunt was elected mayor of Hartshorne and served one term. Having read for the law, he passed the bar exam in 1907.
Prior to 1910, C. R. Hunt moved to Wilburton, Latimer County, where he was a practicing attorney and served several terms as county judge.
At the time of his death, in 1941, his living relatives were informed as possible heirs of his estate. However, the entire estate was awarded to his widow, Mary Thompson [Mowbry] Hunt.
