NILES - Former South Bend resident Miriam Eugenia Van Dusen, 88, of Niles, MI died Sunday, July 22 in Riveridge Manor, Niles. Mrs. Van Dusen was born May 17, 1930 in New Carlisle to the late Erma (Clark) and Donald Campbell and lived in the Michiana are all of her life. She is survived by her sons, William Van Dusen (Collette) of Chatham, IL and Gary Van Dusen (Lana) of Troy, AL; three grandchildren, Jennifer Eastwood, Dorothea Jacoby, and Michael Van Dusen; six great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Phyllis Tegman of Mt. Washington, KY, Grace Smith of South Bend, Mary Thompson of Garden City, MI, Priscilla Wolfe (Kenneth) of Englewood, FL, and Joanna Starner (Dennis) of Madison Lake, MN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Van Dusen; and sisters, Marilyn Sue Czarnecki and Donna Priebe.

Miriam was dearly loved by her family and admired for her accomplishments and strong Christian faith, belonging to the Berrien Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was a very generous and caring person, always wanting to help others in need. She was an avid reader, accomplished pianist, and appreciated the beauty of nature.

Funeral Services for Miriam will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 26 in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. with Pastor Melody Wallace of Berrien Springs Seventh Day Adventist Church, Berrien Springs, MI officiating. Committal services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
