Daniel David Monaghan (also spelled Monahan on this memorial, and Moynihan prior to his arrival in Canada) was born in County Cork, Ireland, to John Monaghan and Catherine Cronin. According to his death record, his date of birth was actually July 24, 1879; he would have immigrated to Canada in 1895 and taken up residence in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia in 1900. He was married to Catherine Moore (also listed on this memorial), and the two had several children (names forthcoming). He died on March 27, 1940, and was buried two days later. (This memorial is known to have been organized by his brother Gerald, which may partially explain the discrepancies in spelling and dates.)
