Chester Richard “Rick” Butler, 78, of Lawton Oklahoma, died peacefully Saturday July 21, 2018 at his home.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 28, 2018, at Aulds Funeral Home located at 307 South Center, Archer City, Texas with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
Rick was born June 9, 1940 in Bryson, Texas to the late Chester “Shorty” and Anna Mae Petit Butler.
In 1958, he graduated from Goodland High School in Goodland, Kansas. He worked for Rock lsland Railroad from 1959-1980 and Burlington Northern 1980-1983. In 1983, he moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he worked for 28 years as Vice-President for C & I Electronics
Inc. He retired June 15, 2011.
On November 19, 1976, he married Janis Soellner in Goodland, Kansas. She preceded him in death on February 8, 2004. He married Jerre Gayle Matthews on June 25, 2011 in the Holy City, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, sightseeing, (especially Mount Scott of the Wichita Mountains) and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Jerre Gayle of Lawton; children, Diana Russell, Carrie Sue Jennlngs, Kevln and Stephanie Butler, Bill and Lora Butler, Pam Butler; brother, Tom Butler and Mary, sister, Patsy Horn and husband, Roy, extended family, Roger and Janie Soellner, Dottie and Weldon Swearinger, Mike and Dawn Matthews. Grandchildren, Matt McDonald, Paul Westphal, Brandy Lane, Krystal Llamas, Tara and Tiffany Butler, Hope Butler, Mikaila Lawrence, Bryce Butler and Bella Watson, TJ and Kallie Butler, Robyn Unger and twenty-three great grandchildren and ten step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death his brother, Jim Butler, granddaughter, Kayla McDonald, step-grandson, Chris Swearinger and stepson, Bobby Soellner.
