Chester B. "C.B." Gregory, peacefully departed from this life on July 13th, 2018 following a long battle with failing health.

C.B. was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 2nd, 1947, to his loving parents, the late Chester Albert Gregory and the late Bernice Ard Gregory.

C.B. was survived by one son, John-Justin B. Gregory (and Melia Meece) of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Jessica Lee Gregory (and Jamie Gibson), of Somerset, Kentucky; seven grandchildren, Jerrica Flynn, Ryder Mink, Bellamy Gregory, Karalee Luster, Isabella Luster, Kadi-Jane Gibson, and Jamie Frank Gibson; one brother, Troy Lee Gregory (and Michelle Gregory) of Somerset, Kentucky; his former wife, Kimberly Jasper of Somerset, Kentucky, whom he married on September 12th, 1981; as well as a very special friend, Sylvia Jasper of Somerset, Kentucky.

C.B. was preceded in death by his parents and several beloved canine friends he had throughout his life: Brandy, Geronimo, Samson, Jake, Greta and Blackjack.

C.B. was one of a kind. As a young man, C.B. enjoyed fishing and football. He graduated from Somerset High School in 1966. Shortly after, C.B. was enlisted in the United States Army, where he bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Citizens National Bank in younger years, then went on to a career working for the railroad. He was a signalman for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for many years, until he retired.

C.B. enjoyed his life and had several hobbies and interests, including motorcycles, classic cars, playing pool and poker, hunting and animals. He especially loved dogs and took great pride in his pets. C.B. loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and was known for spoiling them. He had a zest for life that was inspiring. He made his own rules and was never afraid to stand up for what he believed in. His smile was infectious and he always loved a good joke. Often, he was the “life of the party”, the last one at the table and the first one to help someone in need.

C.B.’s legacy will remain in the lessons he taught his family, and the many, many memories and stories he provided us all during his 70 years on this earth.

He was given Military Honors by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 19th, 2018.

The Somerset Undertaking Company in Somerset, Kentucky was in charge of the arrangements.
