Lucius was the son of John R. Bowdish, Jr. and Emeline Dewey. Lucius served with Co. B, 7th Michigan Infantry. He lost his right arm at the Battle of the Wilderness in 1864, the same battle at which his brother Corridon died. Lucius married Mary Presley Nov. 25, 1864. Lucius was a farmer and a hotel keeper.
