James Richard "Button" Seaton, 71, of Mullens, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at CAMC Memorial following a short illness.

Born February 28, 1947 at Canton, OH, he was the son of the late James Wesley Seaton (1906-1960) and Aretta Marie Spangler-Seaton (1925-1994). Button was a lifelong nickname given to him at birth by a nurse.

Button was a 1965 graduate of Mullens High School, former coal miner with 20 years of service having spent most of his mining career for Consolidated Coal Company at Itmann, a member of UMWA, and a member of the Mullens Moose Lodge. He along with his wife, Susie were Owners and Operators of Second Street Station for 19 years and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Vietnam Era as Military Policeman.

Button shall always be remembered throughout the Mullens community for his love for baseball and coaching. In 1997 he along with Lonnie Prillaman and Jerry Willingham led the 16-18 age group Mullens Babe Ruth Team to a State Championship. In later years, he enjoyed spending time at the baseball field watching his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Susie Gordon-Lusk-Seaton whom he married in 1999; two sons, Mike Seaton and his wife Christy Seaton of Mullens, and Jimmy Seaton of Mullens; two stepsons, Roger Lusk of Mullens and Will Lusk of Covel; one sister, Nancy Lou Seaton-Caperton (B. 1950) and her husband Terry W. Caperton (B. 1947) of Mullens and their children, Kenny Caperton and James Cecil Caperton; his magnificent seven grandchildren, Meagan Seaton, Josh Seaton, Jax Seaton, Savannah Lusk, Caitlyn Lusk, John Paul Lusk, and Andrew Lusk; and his former wife, Martha Louise Slayton-Seaton (B. 1947) whom he married on June 6, 1965 in Itmann, Wyoming County, WV (per WV Marriage License Register, Wyoming County, WV, 1965, Page 158, Application Date: May 24, 1965).

Friends may call from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, July 22, 2018 at the Mullens Family Worship Center, Mullens where there will be a short celebration of Button's life with John Morgan officiating.
