She was born April 16, 1926 in Dyersburg, Tennessee; the daughter of the late J. d. and Fannie McKenzie McFarland. She was a Post Mistress for the Rutherford Post Office for 22 years and a former employee of Kellwood Company in Rutherford. Mrs. Porter was also a 20 year volunteer of Dyer Nursing Home and received the “Volunteer of the Year” award. She was a member of Old Bethlehem Baptist Church in Rutherford.
Mrs. Porter is survived by two daughters, Linda Rogers and Pattye Knox (Joe); three grandchildren, Jody Knox, Jason Knox and Karla Garner; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Walter Porter, Jr. and her parents.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 23, 2018. Karnes & Son Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mrs. Evelyn Louise McFarland Porter.
